The Legend of Zelda has become one of the best games there is. And not only that, it has also become the most popular among all games of all times. Its popularity competes with Super Mario Bros., which is believed to be the most popular game there is. Link, Zelda’s protagonist, is said to be just as popular as Mario. With its vast popularity, you have to wonder why The Legend of Zelda is liked by many people. If a fan would answer, they’ll say that it started with the original Legend of Zelda game. And that was way back the 1980’s.
On the late 1980’s, Nintendo introduced the original The Legend of Zelda game playable on the infamous console, Famicom Disk System. Since Famicom Disk System was not released anywhere else other than Japan, the console and its games were not seen by the world. When the Nintendo Entertainment System was offered worldwide, the revolution of the gaming consoles began. Then, role playing games were made popular. The games on the NES were always on 2D platform. People got used to this type of graphics. That w as until The Legend of Zelda was released on the NES. The Legend of Zelda offered the players a different style of graphics and also a different type of game play. At first, The Legend of Zelda can’t be classified onto the different categories of gaming like adventure, RPG or sports because of the difference on the view. The Legend of Zelda used overhead view, which made it escape from the usual 2D platform view. The game play was different too. RPG’s usually are on turn-based. But The Legend of Zelda used a somewhat real-time gaming. You can easily move Link on the map and slash the enemies that you encounter. The level up system was also nonexistent. You can simply learn skills and increase HP with items that you can pick. The story is good too. You, as Link, must save Princess Zelda from the evil Prince Ganon, who plans to take over the world. Link’s journey included going through complicated mazes found on dungeons that are scattered through the world map. You get to fight monsters, and very tough bosses to get the fragments of the triforce. The fragements of the triforce will be used to defeat the evil Ganon. So basically, you have to find the triforce before trying to put up a fight against Ganon. The game was so unique that everyone has started to like the game. It increased its popularity exponentially. And so, Nintendo made a new title for The Legend of Zelda series. The new Legend of Zelda became popular again, and the world of gaming has seen the growth of a new legendary game which is The Legend of Zelda. At present, The Legend of Zelda continues to be a hit to players, and its graphics and game play has evolved and is better than ever.
The Legend is Zelda is liked by the people simply because of its uniqueness and simplicity. Many people even consider it is the best RPG ever.
